Residence on Kahala Beach Honolulu, Oahu Hawaii Project Details 2011
27ND ANNUAL BIA RENAISSANCE BUILDING AND REMODELING 2012 OVERALL GRAND AWARD WINNER This new Kahala beach home is inspired by the past glory of the once sleepy beachside community. Old Hawaii architecture is rejuvenated in modern plan and materials. Concrete siding and trim looks like wood but is a green material and will last years to come. Engineered “plantation harvested” wood flooring has a tough factory finish and fiberglass windows will hold up well in the salt air. Split system air conditioning in bedrooms provides comfort on those rare hot nights. The house was designed to take advantage of the trade winds to cool the public spaces with lots of little areas to lie around, read a book, or just relax.
TESTIMONIAL Victor and Buck (of Welch and Weeks) did a stunning job for us at 4727 Kahala – perfect open Hawaiian design. We worked with them carefully designing the house over a two year period and we could not be happier with the result, including construction supervision. The house is next to a public access – come by and check it out!
