22ND ANNUAL BIA RENAISSANCE BUILDING AND REMODELING 2007 OVERALL GRAND AWARD WINNER
Welch and Weeks traveled to the small island of Lanai from Honolulu to create this "Luna" plantation style home. Victor likes to use the phrase coined by Robert A.M. Stern, "modern traditionalism", a blend of traditional style with modern planning. The home is protected by a step double pitched "Dickey" roof clad in copper standing seam material. The walls are board and batten. Windows and doors were custom made in Honolulu. This project was a challenge because of its location...you just can't go to the local hardware store and buy the material you need. Everything needs to be shipped in. This did not mean the budget or tight schedule was adjusted. With proper planning and a very good contractor, the project was a complete success.
TESTIMONIAL Recommending Victor Weeks (Welch and Weeks) to design and assist in the construction of a new home or a remodel is an easy decision! Victor is creative, responsive, detailed, a good listener, problem solver, add in fun and you have the perfect combination of a great architect and partner in designing and building a home. Our project was no easy task as it was a brand new build on one of the smallest islands in our chain, Lanai. Nothing was easy, nothing was given. The planning and detail provided by Victor and his team allowed for us to come in on-time, under budget and with an award winning home (BIA Renaissance Building and Remodeling 2007 Overall Grand Award Winner)! It is fourteen years old now and still feels new! We love it, our friends love it, our family loves it. We would not hesitate to recommend Victor (Welch and Weeks) for any home build or remodel on any island.
